Nature of Code Illustrations

Illustrations for Dan Shiffman's Nature of Code programming textbook on modeling natural systems using Processing and p5.js.

We wanted the illustrations to feel playful and inviting. For the book launch party I created a few expanded, color versions of a few of my favorite illustrations from the book.

The Florida Series

Stylized, playful drawings of wildlife from my home state.

The ecosystem here is particularly rich and also quite fragile. These drawings are a way to connect with and appreciate a few of the creatures that live in Florida.

Fantastical Illustrations

Drawings surfacing from daydreams.

These are scenes from as-yet unwritten stories, evidence of a fleeting obsession (as with my snake phase!) or just odd images that emerged during aimless doodling.
